The Wood Key
Machaerium scleroxylon, from Bolivia through Brazil into Paraguay; reddish orange through dark violet-brown with contrasting near-black streaking and a pale yellow sapwood sharply separated from the heartwood — sold as Bolivian rosewood, morado, Santos rosewood or caviuna, but it is a Machaerium, not a Dalbergia.
