The Wood Key
Maclura pomifera, native only to the Red River drainage of northeast Texas, southeast Oklahoma and southwest Arkansas but planted and naturalised as hedgerow across much of the United States; bright golden yellow when freshly cut, darkening under ultraviolet light to a medium brown, with straight grain and a fine to medium texture.
