The Wood Key
Cordia dodecandra, native from central Mexico south through Belize and Guatemala and on Cuba; medium to dark brown, sometimes with a green or purple cast, crossed by near-black growth-ring bands that form its characteristic spider-web or landscape figure, with sharply paler yellowish sapwood that is often deliberately left in the piece.
