The Wood Key
Dalbergia tucurensis, from southern Mexico through Central America — the same species the trade also sells as Guatemalan rosewood and Yucatan rosewood, the names marking origin rather than any botanical difference; yellowish brown through deep orange-brown to dark brown, streaked or plain, over a light yellow sapwood distinct from the heartwood.
