Swietenia macrophylla, native from southern Mexico through Central America and into the Amazon basin of Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil — “Brazilian” names one end of a much wider range rather than a separate wood; heartwood pale pinkish brown to darker reddish brown that deepens with exposure, medium and uniform in texture.
