Callitropsis nootkatensis — also published as Chamaecyparis, Cupressus and Xanthocyparis nootkatensis — from the coastal mountains of southern Alaska south through British Columbia to northwest California; light yellow heartwood with whitish to pale yellow sapwood that barely reads as separate, straight-grained and of uniform fine texture, darkening with exposure to light; a cypress, not a true cedar.
