Gillander Guitars

Gillander Guitars are built one at a time by Chad Gillander, a luthier and working player based in Oneida, in upstate New York. His aim is a guitar fitted to the individual player — responsive, comfortable, and evenly balanced — pairing traditional construction with a handful of quiet modern refinements: a banjo-inspired headstock shape, necks stiffened by carbon rods flanking a dual-action truss rod, and an optional Manzer Wedge that lets a larger body sit more easily against the player. Every guitar is a custom, built-to-order commission, spanning body sizes from 12-fret Concert and 00 Grand Concert up to his small-jumbo Model 1, in tonewoods from black walnut and cocobolo to wenge and ziricote. Gillander does his own setup and repair work, and is represented by Acoustic Music Works in Pittsburgh.

Acoustic Music Works

Acoustic Music Works is a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania shop with a deep new-and-used boutique acoustic catalog. Their inventory leans heavily on Collings — Hill Country, Brazilian rosewood, and pre-war-spec builds at the high end — alongside Huss & Dalton and Bourgeois. They also host in-store concerts by touring artists.
