Martin Guitars

Founded in 1833 and still building in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, Martin effectively invented the American flat-top — and its Custom Shop is where that lineage still gets made by hand, one guitar at a time. On the Atlas you'll find only that end of the company: built-to-order Custom Shop instruments and the Authentic Series' pre-war reproductions (hide glue, hand-shaped bracing, VTS-aged tops), not the standard catalog.

Lauzon Music

Three generations on Wellington Street: Larry and Dorothy Lauzon opened the shop in 1945, Ken took it over in 1974 and grew it across two floors, and Dave runs it now. The louder half is electric — Fender and Gibson Custom Shop, and the boutique amps they've carried since Dr. Z and Fulltone arrived in the nineties — which is what their September showcase is built around. The acoustic room is quieter and more Canadian: Boucher in unusual depth, Collings beside it, and the full factory spec sheet published for each.
