About Collings Guitars
Collings Guitars come out of Austin, Texas — a shop that started in a Houston apartment in 1973 and grew into something close to an institution. Bill Collings was the kind of builder who would reject a guitar over a tolerance most players couldn't feel, and that standard became a Collings trademark: crisp, articulate, pin-sharp tone that records beautifully and shows up in studios as often as on stages. Bill died in 2017, but the team he trained kept building, and the line has held — Collings still means what it has always meant.
About McCabe's Guitar Shop
McCabe's Guitar Shop has been a Santa Monica institution since 1958 — a folk-revival anchor on Pico Boulevard that became as well-known for its 150-seat back-room concert hall as for its guitar floor. The concert series alone (running since 1969) turned the shop into a destination for songwriters and fingerstyle players passing through Los Angeles. Their boutique acoustic shelves rotate around Bourgeois, Collings, and Santa Cruz alongside the deep Martin / Taylor catalog that anchors the room. A small, curated boutique presence in a shop with an outsized cultural footprint.
